422 Project Update

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will occur next week on U.S. 422 under two improvement projects in Montgomery County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Sunday, March 10, through Friday, March 15, from 7:00 PM to 2:00 PM, a single lane closure will be in place on westbound U.S. 422 between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard in Lower Pottsgrove Township for shoulder reconstruction.
  • Monday, March 11, through Friday, March 15, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, a single lane closure will be in place on eastbound U.S. 422 between Armand Hammer Boulevard and Evergreen Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township for excavation.
  • Monday, March 18, through Thursday, March 21, and Sunday, March 24, through Thursday, March 28, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Oaks (Egypt Road) and Bridgeport/Valley Forge (Route 23) interchanges in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships for saw cutting and concrete patching.

In addition, a lane closure with flagging will be in place on Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) between Bridge Street and Route 23 (Ridge Road) in East Vincent and East Pikeland townships, Chester County, on Tuesday, March 12, through Friday, March 15, and Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM for fiber optic line installation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The shoulder reconstruction, excavation and fiber optic installations are part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct and improve U.S. 422 and replace two bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.

The saw cutting and concrete patching are part of a $6.9 million project to rehabilitate pavement on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 29/Phoenixville and Route 363/Trooper Road interchanges.
