1. How do I pay a parking ticket?

Parking tickets can be paid at the Lower Pottsgrover Township police department (LTP PD) during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

We also provide a drop box at the LPT PD entrance door for payment after hours.

Tickets can also be paid via First Class U.S. Mail.

2. When are taxes due?

County and township taxes are sent out on March 1. The EMS tax, as well as the school and per capita taxes are sent out on July 1. Residents have 60 days to pay their tax bills. The discount is good for the county and township taxes until April 30. The net is good until June 29, and residents have until December to pay the penalty.

The taxes mailed on July 1- occupation, school, and per capita taxes - have a discount which is good until August 30. The net is good until October 30, and residents have until December to pay the penalty.

3. How am I billed for municipal waste collection service?

4. Is there a curfew in the township?

Yes, there is a curfew in the township.

Ordinance 201 addresses curfew regulations for anyone under the age of 18 years for these time frames:

• April 1 through September 30, between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
• October 1 through March 31, between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

1. Does the Lower Pottsgrove Township police department provide fingerprinting services to the public?

We do provide such as service for those in need of fingerprint for employment purposes, adoption, etc.

We do require a $15 fee at the time of service.

2. Does the Lower Pottsgrove Township police department have an animal control officer?

Lower Pottsgrove Township contracts with an Animal Control Officer, who is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Police must be contacted about the situation first. Police will then contact the contracted Animal Control Officer, as required. A citizen cannot call the Animal Control Officer directly.

3. Where can I find my pet that was captured by the animal control officer?

Any domesticated animal captured by the contracted Animal Control Officer can be located and picked up by going to the Pottstown Police Department.

The animal's owner will be required to provide proof of the current year's dog license, complete required paperwork and pay the scheduled kennel fees before the animal will be released. 

Lower Pottsgrove Township does not control the scheduled kennel fees.

5. How can I purchase a used police vehicle?

We currently list used vehicles on Municibid, which sells municipal equipment in an auction style format.

6. How can I get a copy of a police report?

Police reports can be obtained at the police station Monday through Friday during business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Accident reports require a fee of $15. 

Right to Know

All other police reports fall under the Right to Know Law Act 3 of 2008 (PDF). Requests for reports must be submitted on request form and will be reviewed within five business days. 

There is a .25 cent per page fee for all printed copies released.

5. How is the bill calculated?

Lower Pottsgrove Township levies several taxes- Real Estate Tax, Per Capita Tax, (Emergency Medical System) EMS Tax, and Earned Income Tax- to pay for basic services. The Per Capita, Emergency and Municipal Services Tax, and Real Estate Taxes are collected by Jennifer Marsteller and the Earned Income Tax is collected by Berkheimer Associates, who can be called at 800-360-8989.

Two other types of taxes occur only in specific instances. They are the Light Fund Tax and Realty Transfer Tax.

• Light Fund Tax - The township imposes a tax on all properties within 300 feet of a public street light. This tax is based upon a per-foot basis and the funds a re used to pay for the direct cost of operating the lights.
• Realty Transfer tax - This tax is levied at the time of transfer of real estate on the buyer and the seller, each of whom pay 1% of the value of the property represented on the deed, for a total of 2%. This tax is collected by the County Recorder of deeds who forwards 1% to the state, 0.5% to the school district, and 0.5% to the Township.

1. How am I billed for utilities provided by the township?

In Lower Pottsgrove Township we provide utility services, sewer rental and trash removal, to most residents of the township.  If you live in a development that has an HOA (Home Owners Association), trash service will be provided privately through your HOA.  If your property has a septic system, we do not provide sewer services so you will not see that reflected on the utility invoice.  

You will be billed quarterly on a combined bill of $199.50 for sewer rental and trash removal services.  

• Sewer rental - $136/Quarter
• Trash removal service - $63.50/Quarter

2. When is my bill mailed?

1. How is my utility bill calculated?

Currently the sewer rental is $544 per year or $136 per quarter & trash removal services are $254 per year or $63.50 per quarter. 

2. When is my utility bill mailed?

All utility bills are mailed on a quarterly basis throughout the year:

• January 1st
• April 1st
• July 1st
• October 1st

You have 45 days to make payment, after that date interest and penalties will be added and delinquent notices will be sent to accounts with an outstanding balance.

3. When is my utility bill payment due?

Payments are due and payable within 45 days of being sent out each quarter:

• 1st Quarter - May 15th
• 2nd Quarter - August 15th
• 3rd Quarter - November 15th
• 4th Quarter - February 15th
