Trash & Recycling Important Changes to Municipal Waste Services in Lower Pottsgrove As of January 1, 2007, Lower Pottsgrove Township will implement the following changes to trash collection in the Township: All residents on private streets with more than 10 residences who currently receive waste services under the Township's waste contract will no longer receive these services. All residents who continue to receive municipal waste services will be billed $50 twice a year in March and September to offset increases in costs to the Township. A trash certification to finalize the billing prior to the settlement date of a property transfer is required if you are selling your home. When ordering a trash certification, please show the property address, buyer, seller and settlement date. For more information, please contact staff at the Township office at 610-323-0436. Each of type of waste collection must meet standard Township collection requirements. Recycling Requirements Residential and Commercial recycling requirements Reporting Requirements All commercial and private haulers that operate in Lower Pottsgrove Township are required to report waste and recyclable tonnages to the Township on a quarterly or annual basis. Monthly Leaf Collection As of January 1, 2007, residential waste haulers who operate in Lower Pottsgrove Township must collect leaf waste on a monthly basis. Residents who participate in municipal waste collection can find more information here. Grass Clippings Haulers will not collect grass clippings. They should be composted in your yard. For more information on composting grass clippings and other yard wastes please see the DEP website for composting ideas and instructions. Household Hazardous Waste Household Hazardous Waste items include car batteries, gasoline, motor oil, oil-based paints, insect sprays, computer components, monitors, hard drives and housings.
