Lower Pottsgrove Township Recreational Programs & Activities

Lower Pottsgrove Township offers a wide variety of programs for residents of all ages. For the Townships younger residents, Lower Pottsgrove offers an Easter Egg Hunt, a Fishing Derby, and Halloween Festival. For residents of all ages, the Township hosts a summer concert series at the band shell in Sanatoga Park and movie nights at Gerald Richards Park. LOWER POTTSGROVE 2008 SUMMER EVENT SCHEDULE

Second Annual Bicycle and Safety Rodeo Pottsgrove Elementary School, May 31, 10 am to 2 pm Join us for bike safety lessons, inspections and games. Hot dogs, juice and ice cream will be provided. This event requires registration. To register, please call 610-326-1508.

Summer Event Kick Off Saturday, June 14, Sanatoga Lake, 7:30 am to 4 pm

Fishing Derby 7:30 am to 10 am Start off the day fishing by Sanatoga Lake for Sunnies, Bass and Catfish. For children ages 5 -12. Pre-registration is required and an adult must remain present with the child(ren) at all times. A registration form will be sent home from school. Due to a change in sponsorship this year, we are unable to provide bait for our young fishermen. There will still be prizes in several categories.

Community Shredding Event 9 am to 12 pm Spring Cleaning? We are providing our residents with a place to safely dispose of old documents. Please enter Sanatoga Park via South Park Drive. You will be directed where to wait for the opportunity to destroy up to 4 boxes of old documents. The boxes should be "bankers box" size. We will not be disposing of boxes used to transport shredding material. Residents must dispose of them on their own. This service is being provided by Titan Mobile Shredding.

Local Bands 1 pm to 4 pm Join us to support our young local bands as they make their debut at the Sanatoga Bandshell: AYUDAR: experimental rock band Harp Haven: classic rock cover band The Schmidt Power Trio: rock cover band

Summer Concerts at the Sanatoga Band Shell 200 South Sanatoga Road, Sundays at 6 pm No reservations required. Bring the family, a beach blanket, or chair and enjoy a night of family-friendly concerts under the stars. June 22 - Bill Koss Combo, perennial local favorite June 29 - Barbone Street Jazz Band, world-class jazz musicians specializing in jazz and swing of the 1940s and 1950s July 13 - The Left Edge, classic rock band July 20 - The Mango Men, beach and Buffet-inspired band July 27 - Soniq Boom, rock band August 3 - Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods, '50s and '60s Rock 'n Roll party band August 10 - The Pottsgrove Community Band, local community band Rain date is the next day at 6 pm. Summer Movies at Gerald Richards Park 2130 Buchert Road, Fridays at dusk (8:30 pm) No reservations required. Bring the family, a beach blanket, or chair and enjoy a night of free family-friendly classic and blockbuster movies under the stars. June 27 - Transformers July 25 - A Christmas Story* August 15 - The Wizard of Oz Rain location is the Sunnybrook Ballroom at the corner of High Street and Sunnybrook Road. Bring a new unwrapped toy to the movie to benefit the Toys for Tots program.

Halloween Fall Festival at Sanatoga Park 200 South Sanatoga Road, Sunday, October 26 at 1 pm Join us for hayrides, a children's concert, games and a costume contest! Children participating in the costume contest will be required to pre-register the day of the event.

Santa's Hotline Parents...have your kids been naughty or nice? Let Santa's Elves know on December 9 and December 10 between the hours of 2pm and 5pm. The Big Guy will then be phoning your kid(s)to have a chat before the big day arrives! Santa will be making the return phone calls on December 16, 17 and 18 between the hours of 5pm and 8pm.
